Metaphor as Meta-Code
The writer whose work rings wholly true learns to crawl inside of character.
It is the core of characterization that makes a piece sing, is proof of its believability. The tapping of this consciousness approaches art. It melts ego-boundaries allowing the writer to enter into character and discover a world to be translated, and creation happens. The writer becomes both the breast and the suckling entering the larger imaginal.
Metaphor is a meta-code that builds and develops character, theme, and ultimately story.
This happens as it opens the domain of the profane, and offers a vision and invitation to both the author, in the act of creation and the reader, in the way of experience, that offers an epiphany. This step into revelation is a smaller miracle that explores imaginal depths and breaks through our ordinary world.
